"50% skin-fermented Chardonnay from Matta Bella in Southold, LI and 50% whole-cluster Merlot from a two-acre, backyard vineyard in Orient, LI, blended post-fermentation. A nose of herbs and dark stone with crushed forest berries, the palate is juicy with red plums and a mix of mulberries and tiny blueberries balance just the slightest tannic tack. Though it is half Chardonnay, this presents more as a light red wine; an earthy Alto Piemonte from Long Island, though the wine is more playful, joyful."
